Jogue Shogi
A free online platform for learning and playing shogi (Japanese chess) in Portuguese: live games against people or the computer, a nine-lesson course, daily tsume problems and a community-written wiki of pieces, castles and openings.
About
Jogue Shogi is a free platform for playing and learning shogi, the Japanese chess, entirely in Portuguese. Shogi is played on a 9x9 board with twenty pieces on each side, and what sets it apart is the drop: every captured piece changes sides and can come back to the board. Everything runs in the browser, with nothing to install.
Play
- Live games: join an open seat, invite a friend by link, or watch games as they happen.
- A computer opponent with five difficulty levels.
- Kyu and dan grading, rankings, and handicap games across nine levels.
Learn
- A nine-lesson course on the rules with two paths: one for complete beginners and a shorter one for people who already play chess.
- A daily tsume (mating problem), the same for everyone.
- An opening trainer that picks an opening from the wiki and has you play its recommended line move by move.
- A community-written wiki of pieces, castles, openings and shogi culture, with submissions and a review queue.
Community
- Clubs, an activity feed and a forum with boards for shogi, chess and go, anime, manga and visual novels, technology and science, and more.
- Permanent achievement badges, and kakera, a currency earned from missions, wins, achievements and tsume streaks, spent on profile frames in the shop.
Jogue Shogi runs on Node.js and Express.
